Uche Ignites Dominant Crystal Palace Victory at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Even though embarking on their maiden European adventure, Crystal Palace are learning very quickly. Without key figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a comfortable result that all but secures them a spot in the Conference League qualifying rounds.

A further victory in their upcoming match against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to secure straight entry to the knockout stages, particularly following a previous stumble against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Seize the Moment

This occasion provided a platform for some of Palace's fringe players to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second start since arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the account with a well-taken goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, scoring for the second game in succession.

A Shelbourne team that had concluded their domestic season were outmatched against a largely second-string Palace lineup. The visitors were already weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with leg injuries.

Dominance Established from the Outset

Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly took control. A flowing move in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, let Nketiah to lay on Uche for a straightforward finish.

Midfielder Adam Wharton came close soon after, driving a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah then appealed for a penalty after racing into the area, but the referee dismissed the protests.

Ex-Arsenal striker didn't need to wait long to find his goal, tapping home from a yard out after Uche's shot had hit the post.

Shelbourne were hanging on for dear life. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for a couple of agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the crossbar with a powerful header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Contest

The contest was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

After the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw key players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring his first touch, only to see his shot blocked.

Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also blazed a glaring chance, indicating there is still scope for improvement in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise positive evening for the traveling side.
